An umbrella has been a universal solution to guard oneself against the elements. In the rainy tropics and freezing England, umbrellas have been used to guard oneself against rain and in places where it is very hot; one may use it to guard oneself against burning sun.

While the black umbrella has been loved by most of us, here is a rather avant-garde umbrella that does not have a canopy to protect you from the rain.

If you asked me how, would say, a sheet of air which is blown from a hollow pipe would protect you from rain drops! I am not sure if the Air Umbrella can withstand gales and storms, but the idea of just air pushing the rain drops away from the pseudo-canopy is quite an intriguing thought.

Moreover, you could also adjust the length of the stick which blows air into the sky, and you could also adjust the size of the air canopy if the rain is too hard.

Again, it may not protect you from hail stones which are a common occurrence when it rains. It has been designed by Je Sung Park & Woo Jung Kwon and is certainly quite cool!
